Pill about grants for the basic digitalisation of SMEs
Descripción

Throughout this post we show you some of the current grants that can be useful if you have decided to adapt your SME to the digital change. They will help you achieve your business transformation easier.

The Spanish Government is committed to the digitalisation of SMEs because, according to the SME Digitalisation Plan 2021-2025 of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, SMEs represent more than 98% of the national business fabric. Due to their importance in the country's economy, the public administration proposes programmes with different initiatives and public funding that promote and facilitate the digital transition process of SMEs.

The digitalisation of SMEs, a priority for the Spanish Government.

Let's take a look at some of the support actions your SME may be interested in.

High-speed fixed broadband.

First of all, let us highlight the 'Subsidies for contracting high-speed fixed broadband access services at 30 Mbits per second', offered by the Spanish Government, the Third Vice-Presidency of the Government, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and Red.es.

These subsidies can be obtained by any individual, self-employed, SME, non-profit entity, and city council with a population equal to or less than 5,000 inhabitants (registered in the last census), which are in areas of Spanish territory, and which do not have services that allow access to fixed broadband.

Currently, fast and powerful access to the internet is essential for any company's business. Therefore, if your SME fulfils the above-mentioned conditions, do not hesitate and submit your application before the deadline of 31st of December of 2021.

Digitalisation of an area of your company.

The grant programmes for SMEs and the self-employed published on the website of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce can be very interesting for businesses like yours. Each programme is designed to promote the digitalisation of an area of the SME or sector. On their online platform you can find: programmes to support the competitiveness of Spanish retail trade, Innochambers-Support for innovation in SMEs, ICTchambers or Cybersecurity, among many others. All of these grants are financed by the European Regional Development Fund, while others are also funded by the Secretary of State for Trade of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.

If you have already decided to digitally transform your SME, visit the website of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and find out which programme or programmes are best suited to your business.

Funding for the digitalisation of your SME.

The Official Credit Institute, which is attached to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation through the Secretary of State for the Economy and Business Support, offers SMEs and the self-employed the ICO Companies and Entrepreneurs credit line.

One of the axes of this line of funding is focused on helping SMEs to develop their digitalisation processes, especially those aimed at addressing teleworking solutions included in the Acelera pyme initiative. This line can be applied during 2021, so if you need financing to implement digitalisation in your SME, do not hesitate to contact the Official Credit Institute, not only to find out more about the conditions, but also to discover the other financing programmes they offer.

Take advantage of the digital transformation by finding the programme that best suits your SME.

As you have seen, there are many grants available for the digital transformation of SMEs, the self-employed and entrepreneurs. These are just some of the most important ones, but there are many more.  On the National Publicity System for Public Subsidies and Grants website, in calls, you will find an extensive catalogue of grants at both regional and national level, as well as the application dates and access to their conditions.

Digital transformation is shaking up all sectors, creating new activities, processes and methodologies, to which we all must adapt. This change does not mean that SMEs have to make it alone, because there is a wide range of grants that aim to facilitate the transformation that companies need. All SMEs have access to grants and subsidies, you just need to find the one that best suits your business and apply for it.
